PC Connect is a free, national service that helps nursing students and graduate nurses find their way into primary and community care - the part of the health system where nurses work in general practices, urgent care clinics, and community and Hauora Māori providers.

Who it's for

PC Connect is for you if you are:

  • A nursing student approaching graduation, or a new graduate; and 

  • Interested in working in general practice, urgent care, or a Hauora Māori provider; and 

  • Looking for guidance on how to find your first job, what a funded first year of practice place involves and whether you qualify 

How it works

We’re here to help you through each step:

01 Register

Fill in a short online form telling us your registration status, where you'd like to work (region and district), the type of setting you're interested in, the hours you're looking for, and a bit about your placement history. You'll need to attach your CV and your transcript.

02 Check

Your details will be checked against the criteria for a funded first year of practice placement.

03 Chat

A member of the PC Connect team will phone you to talk through your options, answer your questions, and make sure we understand what you're looking for.

04 Connect

We’ll pass on your details to the regional hub for the area you selected, and on to employers in that region who match the setting you've chosen. Only the employers and settings you selected receive your information.

05 Recruit

Employers will recruit through their own usual process. PC Connect isn't involved in interviews, offers, or hiring decisions - that stays entirely between you and the employer.

What to expect

It's free.
There's no cost to register, and no exclusivity, you're free to apply through other services at the same time.
It's not a job application.
Registering with PC Connect doesn't guarantee an interview or a job offer, and registering doesn't commit you to anything.
Your information stays within your choices.
We only share your details with the regions and employer types you select, and only once you've registered.
It's a national service.
PC Connect operates nationwide, so wherever in New Zealand you want to work, we can help you get there.
